Maybe the response content is too big too read? Trying to select and read from it again is just misplaced optimisim. The remote server has sent you a RST packet, which indicates an immediate dropping of the connection, rather than the usual handshake. I suspect that is not the problem - the error reported is really ConnectionError. my review here
